McLaren Engineering Group. one of America's foremost design engineering firms, has selected MitchellWest to market it's eight divisions - Structural, Marine, Bridge/Highway/Rail, Forensics, Entertainment, Waterborne Transportation, Site and Civil, Surveying. MitchellWest adds Director of Operations

We are pleased to announce that Sara Hammerschmidt has joined MitchellWest as Director of Operations.

Sara has been working with MitchellWest on special projects for the past year and we have decided to involve her talents in our work on a more consistent basis.

Sara's expertise and experience is a unique mix of planning, coordination, operations and research. Her work has ranged from industrial and operations engineering to urban planning and from research projects to database development. She has also worked with Dell, Inc. as a Capacity Planning Consultant and Motorola, Inc. as a Capacity Planning Analyst.

Sara's responsibilities will include project coordination and communication, database development and management, research, planning, organization and systems development both internally and to support client initiatives.

Education: BS - Industrial and Operations Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
MS - Community and Regional Planning, University of Texas.
Sara is a National Science Foundation Fellow.

During recessionary times, anxiety rises for most business owners and managers. Most often, their first reaction is protectionist, which leads to slashing budgets, cutting staff and canceling expansion plans. After all, who would argue with “circling the wagons” and lowering expenses when sales are slumping?

An early target for reducing expenses is frequently the marketing budget. After all, the competition is probably cutting their marketing budgets (or at least they say they are), and who needs marketing when people aren’t buying?
